Barashango retells the creation and origin stories of the ancient African world — above all the Nile Valley civilization of Kemet — as "amazing stories" of how humanity first explained its own beginnings. Reading these cosmogonies in terms of the modern Black experience, he presents African symbolic language and spirituality as a living foundation for cultural identity and personal growth. The book is a signature work of Fourth Dynasty Publishing, the Silver Spring house Barashango co-founded.
