WHAT IS LOC?

The Gary / Northwest Indiana Chapter Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has established a committee of cross community local, civic, national, political, and faith-based organizations to plan for and attend the 20th Anniversary Commemoration of the Million Man March, “Justice or Else”, October 10, 2015, in Washington, DC.

The LOC is a group designed to plan and implement community activities and participate in events leading up to and beyond the March. The LOC further provides an opportunity for community participation and ongoing discussion and input on other community activities. The LOC’s mission is to provide leadership and support for minorities living in and from Northwest Indiana  and to address the issues and concerns related to violence, education, health awareness, and community collaboration.

WHAT DOES THE ‘ OR ELSE MEAN?

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has been using four recurring responses when it comes to defining what the “or else” Means in “Justice or else”. Those themes are listed below:

  • What does the “or else” mean toyou – The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has asked this question of all of us. It is a question that is designed to make us ponder how important justice is to us and what are we willing to sacrifice.
  • Redistribute the pain– The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has asked everyone to study the last few years of Dr. King’s life. We will find that he spoke of redistributing the pain of our oppressors through the participation of a full economic withdrawal. This means that we would withhold our dollars from those institutions that benefits from us economically, but fail to contribute to help us with the suffering in our communities. This Economic withdrawal is scheduled to take place from “Black Friday” through Christmas.
  • Justice or else is a two edged sword– This means that not only are we demanding justice from our oppressors, but from one another as well. We have to make a decision whether we are willing to do what is needed to stop the violence in our communities by intervening in our own affairs.
  • Justice is the weapon that almighty God will use on the Day of Judgment– We don’t have the weaponry to fight this mighty government, so God must fight this battle for us. The Minister has stated that he will acquaint us with the power that backs us.
