Psychologist Amos N. Wilson argues that an Afrikan-centered consciousness — a worldview rooted in African values and interests — is the necessary answer to the "new world order" of global capitalism. Taking Marcus Garvey and the Universal Negro Improvement Association as his model of organized Black power, he examines how education, economics, and politics must be rebuilt to serve African people. The book grew out of his AWIS Lecture Series presentations and extends the analysis of his earlier works on Black self-determination.
