Due's first story collection — she was already an American Book Award-winning novelist — gathers a novella and fourteen stories in four movements: Gracetown, set in a small Florida town layered with literal ghosts; The Knowing, about children and adults cursed with foreknowledge; Carriers, pandemic and apocalypse stories including "Patient Zero" and "Danger Word" (written with her husband, Steven Barnes); and Vanishings. The title novella, in which a boy's ghost hunt in Gracetown opens the tragedy that split both the town and his own family, had earlier won the Kindred Award. The collection, introduced by Nalo Hopkinson, won the 2016 British Fantasy Award for Best Collection and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.
