Dalton argues that Black Americans are descendants of the ancient Hebrew Israelites, building his case from biblical passages — especially the curses of Deuteronomy 28 — alongside claims about language, culture, and migration into West Africa. The book became the basis of a 2018 documentary of the same name and drew wide attention in 2022. Readers should know it is a contested work: historians and Jewish organizations have documented fabricated quotations and antisemitic conspiracy claims in the book and film, which is part of its public record.
