Darkwah argues, chiefly through linguistic analysis of names and words, that the peoples of the Bible — including the authors of the Old Testament — were Black Africans. He contends that biblical tribal names survive among modern African peoples and that even the word "Israel" is African in origin, and he charges that later European Christianity deliberately repainted those identities.
