Butler argues that many of the places and events described in the Bible and in ancient Egyptian history were actually located in the Americas, and that mainstream historians have misread the evidence. Illustrated and written for general readers, the book reached the top of the Dallas Morning News regional nonfiction list. Its claims stand outside mainstream archaeology and are presented here as the author's thesis, offered for the reader's own judgment.
