Kuhn, a Theosophist scholar, argues that the Christ story began as esoteric allegory — the journey of the sun-soul within every human being — and was hardened into literal history in the third century, burying its original meaning. Drawing on Egyptian religion and early Christian texts, he reads the Messiah tradition symbolically from beginning to end. The book is the natural companion to his The Lost Light (1940).
